The company, previously known as BASF Chemdyes Sdn. Bhd., was established in 1978 as a joint venture with BASF AG.

 

Chemdyes Sdn. Bhd. has grown to become one of Malaysia’s leading suppliers of textile auxiliaries, specializing in textile chemicals for applications such as weaving, pre-treatment, dyeing, printing, finishing, optical brightening, injection printing, and textile coating auxiliaries.

 

In 2006, the Sidek family acquired full ownership of the company, making Chemdyes a privately held, family-owned business. In 2015, Archroma Management LLC, based in Reinach, Switzerland, acquired BASF’s textile chemicals division, subsequently designating Chemdyes Sdn. Bhd. as the Malaysian distributor for Archroma.

 

In 2025, Chemdyes partnering with Textilcolor AG, a Swiss company, to explore textile dyes and auxiliaries in Asia and begin local production of textile auxiliaries at Chemdyes plant to strengthen the local and regional market, based on Swiss know-how.

 

Chemdyes serves top textile producers and garment manufacturers across the Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, offering an extensive range of high-quality textile dyes & Pigments, sizing, pre-treatment, dyeing, finishing, optical brightening, and printing auxiliaries.

 

Beyond its core product offerings, Chemdyes also manufactures custom-formulated chemicals tailored to meet the specific sustainability needs of regional clients. The company has developed a comprehensive portfolio of Halal-certified industrial, healthcare, and personal hygiene chemical products, serving both domestic and international markets.

 

Chemdyes operates from a one-hectare manufacturing facility located in the Prai Industrial Estate, Penang, with a production capacity exceeding 500 tons.
